Disk Boot Failure

i have reformatted several times but after i do i change
the boot priority back to floppy, hdd, cd-rom, lan(the
default settings) most of the time i will have to do a
full format and reinstall all software that came with the
computer, but occasionally i can just re-install the os,
as i was able to do yesterday (i didn't lose everything
on the computer.) thank you for any help you can give me
