There are two different scenarios for backup.
1. Copy/Burn the data to a CD-R or DVD-R/W
In a readable format (Folders & Files)
2. A System image, that takes all data from a drive
or partition, compresses it into one or more modules.
This data can be used to recover your system to the
state it was when the image was created.
Does your system have a 3rd party burning program ?
Nero or Easy CD Creator. It is not possible to burn a
DVD-R/W with the XP Built-in software. You should
check your install CD from Pioneer and see if they
bundled a burning/imaging program for free.
The NTBackup software was originally designed for
streaming tape backup. It has no native support for CD/
DVD recorders.
