Hi

>From Start>Run type

msconfig

then click on the startup tab. Uncheck any programs in there that you don't
want loading with Windows.

| I have alot of unwanted programs the launch on startup.
| Is there a way to stop all of this?
|
| Examples:
| A modem on hold utility for instance, it nicely overides
| volume settings on the modem, but does not put the modem
| on hold very well. Another major problem is a program
| attempts to install itself. Originally Adobe Acrobat
| Reader 5 would try to install on startup, however, after
| clearing out my temp folder, Macromedia Coldfusion
| attempts to install, brining the startup process to a
| grinding halt while it prepares installshield. There are
| other programs like quicktime and realplayer, that also
| launch. Nortan Ghost, I dont know what the hell this does
| but its there to.

| Windows XP Proffesional
