To get the ones normally needed, do this:
Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP CD and, instead
of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any password
requested is blank, and TAB over. Assuming the letter for your CD drive
is E: - modify below if not; Give:
COPY E:\i386\ntldr C:\ntldr
COPY E:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\ntdetect.com
ATTRIB -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini
DEL C:\Boot.ini
BootCfg /Rebuild
Fixboot
and reboot to see. If that is not enough you probably need to do a
Repair reinstall. Same start, but instead of the R enter Setup/Install,
and after the License agreement use the R option to Repair the
installation. that will retain installed software and data, but you
will have to run all upgrades again. Make sure you have the firewall
enabled before you go on the Internet even for a moment
