Plato,
This very well may be a piece of spyware on your machine presenting this
message. This has happened to one of my users. The message had link that
promoted a spyware removal software, which was a bad piece of software - it
loaded spyware of it's own.
Try this: go to www.lavasoftusa.com and download the latest version of
Ad-Aware and install it (it's free). Be sure to download and install the
latest Reference File too (this is like a virus definition file, and should
be updated periodically). Run Ad-Aware, it will identify the spyware on your
machine and then give you the option to safely remove it.
