Installation of Windows Xp

I am trying to install Windows Xp on the partition on
which had Linux red hat 8 installed on it previously.I
have formatted my hard disk 4 times and tried to run the
set up of Win Xp.After the completion of set ,when booting
from hard *** i get the error "hal.dll file missing"
and the system reboots after few seconds.
I would be grateful to any one coming up with a solution.
