Have an interesting problem that I'm hoping somewone come
across, I have an asus laptop which on startup hangs at
the asus splash screen, to get it to boot you hit the esc
key a couple of times abnd generate a F1 to continue
error, then it starts up and your away no problems,
recently I thought I would try and give the laptop a
birthday and start with a clean install of xp.. so I
format the laptop hd and try for a clean install. Put in
the xp disc and the laptop boots up but now I have no
keyboard, so I can't continue with the install, I can't
get past the point where you hit the enter key to install.
So I boot back into dos... no problems keyboard works...
try another xp disc, same problem, no keyboard, boot into
dos, keyboard is ok.... so I can not install xp... but I
can install and run windows 98. So the thought I have is
that maybe xp does a more thourogh hardware check than 98,
it may see the minor keyboard glitch at statrup and then
disable or ignore the keyboard. Next step is to flash
bios, then try xp, if this does not work i may try win
2000... or I may try win98 then upgrade to xp...
Any ideas..?
