1. You are being a bit paranoid
2. You really have no idea what "system volume information" is for. If you
did, you would either leave it alone or disable its use.

It is there for the 99% of computer users that screw up their operating
system. It has enabled countless numbers to repair their system by going
back to an earlier configuration!
