Check:
1. that floppy is not in floppy drive
2. that CD is not in CD drive
3. that USB stick is not connected.
4. go to BIOS setup (probably F10) and check that hard disk is recognized.
Also check boot order that the system boots from hard disk.
5. Remove batery from laptop and disconnect it from mains. leave it like
that for 5 minutes. Then, replace batery and reconnect to mains. Power on
the laptop.
If all above fails, there may be some hardware problem.
