Different countries refer to things with different names.
The British have bonnets and boots on their cars and we have
hoods and trunks. Yes, download should mean "get a file
from an Internet source" and install should mean "run a
setup program to "install" the software so it will run on
the computer. BTW, what do the German's call sex?
