For your website problem there are a couple things to try. One would be to
install the Google toolbar and use its popup blocker. You should also
download and install at least Spybot and Ad-aware to try and eliminate some
of the more malevolent items you will pick up on the internet. You should
check for updates before you run them each time.

Hopefully you are running some sort of Anti-Virus package and keeping that
updated as well. You should also turn on the XP firewall.

By default Outlook Express prevents you from opening attachments. You
should be wary of opening attachments, even from people you "know". A virus
sender may have harvested their email address to try and trick the
unsuspecting into opening an infested attachment. If you still want to
access attachments, from Outlook Express go to the Tools menu, select
Options, select the Security tab, and uncheck the box in front of "Do not
allow attachments to be saved or opened..."

Outlook Express does not come with a spellchecker. If you have Microsoft
Office you can use that one, or you can Google for a free spellchecker for
Outlook Express.

Good Luck.
