It does, its exactly as you think, all that has happened is that there are
some shortcuts placed above that that happen to point directly to structures
lower down. If you open my computer and right click on one of those 'rck
documents (or whatever) and select properties, you'll see where it is, it
will be down a hierarchy on C or D somewhere. The desktop itself is in
something like C:\docs & settings\username\desktop. Thats how each user can
have their own desktop. so its all as you surmise with some shortcuts placed
above that.
