Is tha laptop in a docking bay? Some docking bays for laptops are so low
power, that they cannot work with some usb devices.
If you look on the bottom of the palm pilot cradle, there should be a 2 or
3 character code, what is it? Some of those usb cradles for the palm were
recalled.
Is there a OS firmware update for the palm?
Have you tried reinstalling chapura on the laptop (if you sync with outlook)?
Have you tried soft and hard resets with the palm?
Good luck.
