Close but some corrections:

> pop3 - point of presence - incoming mail

POP (or POP3) = Post Office Protocol (version 3). If the version number
is appended, it cannot be for "Point of Presence".
See http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/rfc/rfc1939.html.

PoP or POP = Point of Presence (i.e., your Internet provider). See
http://snipurl.com/6rjr and http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/P/POP2.html
for definitions.

> smtp - simple mail transport protocol - outgoing mail

SMTP = Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
See http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/rfc/rfc2821.html.

> http - hypertext transport protocol - web server

Nope, HTTP = Hypertext Transfer Protocol
See http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/rfc/rfc1945.html (for
non-persistent connections) and
http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/rfc/rfc2616.html (for persistent
connections).

I second that suggestion. For such simplistic questions, start with a
Google search. Even using the online dictionaries will give you some
starting information. You could even look in the help already included
with Windows (Start -> Help). All that time Microsoft spends on
compiling an embedded help system and so little use.
