If you can get to a Command Prompt window, try running the "System File
Checker". This system will check for all OS files to see if they are
present/non-corrupted. Any missing or corrupted will be replaced/repaired
using files from your OS CD [have it handy].
In the Command Prompt window, type "sfc /scannow" (minus quotes AND be sure
there is a space after sfc, then press the "Enter" on your keyboard. This
should start the tool. Hopefully this will evade you of wifely distress.
