Boot to Safe Mode, go to
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate Windows
and use the option to Activate by phone, calling a toll free number,
which will be given, to swap one long number for another. A ten minute
job, and much less hassle than trying to sort the muddle by other means
