Make sure your network adapter isn't using power management to turn it off
to save power. Check this in the network adapters properties in device
manager.
Take the router out the equation for a while and see if anything changes.
Enable the xp firewall temporarily. If you do not lose connection then you
should look to the router. Check for a firmware upgrade for the router.
