Trying to load AOL's Instant Messaging (AIM) on our Dell
Desktop at home. We run Windows XP and use four McAfee
protections: anti-virus; anti-spam; privacy; and
firewall. Several times we've tried to load AIM (after
disabling McAfee so as not to interfere with download.)
After downloading and installation, when we try first
use, we get error that states ("unknown error...code 4,
category 1") and then details that say appname: aim.ece;
modver:0, appver: 0; offset 5d3adddf; modname: unknown.
As complicating factor, we also get prompt that says we
are using wrong antivirus for our operating system and we
should uninstall and reinstall our anti-virus. (That's
definitely wrong, and we've already discussed that with
McAfee...we have the right anti-virus loaded.) Any ideas
(or is AIM just incompatible with our system?)
