You need to log in with a different account that has administrative
privileges. If you didn't make one, then start the computer in Safe
Mode (tap F8 repeatedly as the computer starts up to get to the right
menu) and log in with the Administrator account. The default password
is blank. Now make a new profile (with a different name than your old
profile). Copy all the files from the old profile over to the new
profile. You may need to take ownership of the files, so look in XP's
Help & Support for "take ownership". Once you've done this, you can
delete the old corrupted profile. Reboot to get back to regular mode
and log in to your new profile.
