Make sure the camera is turned on. If XP does not see your camera
(assuming it's connected via USB or Firewire), then it's possible your
camera is not compatible with XP.
You can always use a smart card or flash card reader (they're
inexpensive) to connect to your computer. That means removing the
memory card from the camera and inserting into the reader which
connects to the computer.
