Windows XP Serial Numbers

When I purchased my PC, no Windows XP manual or CDs were
included.

I'm having problems with my computer and would like to
attempt to completely reinstall Windows. However, I
don't have any CDs to do this.

I have proof of purchase of my PC. However, I'm not sure
how I can get the serial numbers for my copy of XP when
I'm having problems with task bar (see previous message)
and can't even access My Computer or My Control Panel.

Is there any way I can find out the serial numbers from
the Windows desktop?

If I contact Microsoft with the serial numbers, will they
even provide me with a set of installation CDs?

Any info you have on the subject would be appreciated!
