     I agree about the CD backup being preferable. To answer the zip program question, I use WinRAR. That and WinZip are probably the best.

     When integrity matters, do not compress. You
     want to be able to test the newly recorded data
     before formatting the source file drive. Your best
     bet is a CD writer or a 2nd hard drive.
