When I had a similar problem on my system, it turned out that the standard
windows XP CD doesnt contain the correct drivers. (I also have raid). In the
end I didnt need to fix this, but it turned out that (IIRC) the right way to
get round this is to put the required drivers onto a floppy, and there is a
point in the reboot when it asks you to press one key or another if you want
to load drivers. thats when you'd put the floppy in. So I suppose you'd
need to use win98 to get the right drivers onto the floppy.
