Hi, David. First, don't post your real email address on Usenet or on
messageboards. It will be harvested by spambots and you'll get even
more unpleasant offers, including viruses, than you already get. Of
course I don't post my real email for that reason, and because one can
get some really rather frightening emails, too. That said, I'm glad the
free products found things. Unfortunately, because you didn't keep your
posts in one thread, I don't know the details of your original problem.
However, I'll do my best. If things are being rewritten when you
reboot, the crud isn't really cleaned off. Here are some more tips
about cleaning spyware off your computer. First, you need to be sure
you update Spybot S&D and Ad-aware *before* you run them. Then, go into
Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key whilst the computer is starting
up) and run both programs from there.

Some more tools to try are CWShredder and Hijack This. Go to
www.spywareinfo.com and read about those tools before you download and
use them (there will be links there). Also, go into Spywareinfo's
forums and read posts there - the regular posters are amazing sources
of help and information. And lastly, do be sure you have a current
(post-2002 version using updated definitions) antivirus installed. It
is useful to update the definitions and then run a scan in Safe Mode,
too. Although some viruses can run in Safe Mode, much malware will not.

I hope this helps. Good luck,

Malke
