Upgraded from ME to XP

I have upgraded from ME to XP on my laptop. When I boot up both windows ME and XP show up and then it picks XP. I have programs that I used in ME that I want to use in XP and cannot find them listed. I would like to know how to get rid of ME and use XP alone and be able to use all my programs that I have on my computer that I used with ME...... I have no idea what to do. I am not an expert at this and just a rooky....
