Programs aren't responding

Everytime I try to open a program a message comes up that
says windows could not find the program. I recently
performed a virus check, some virus were found and I
think the program automatically erased some files. I
tried to reload Windows XP, but I couldn't. Any
suggestions on how I can get my computer to run programs
again?
