I believe my problem is that I loaded an anti-virus
software on top of an older version and now it won't allow
my machine to fully boot-up. I get the "owner" password
screen and enter my password. It then brings up my
desktop with all of my icons but the only item on the
bottom task bar is the clock. The mouse will move around
but I can't launch any programs and the "start" button
won't work. When I hit ctrl-alt-delete it gives me that
menu but it won't allow me to shut-down the machine. I
have to hold the power button in for 5+ seconds to shut it
off. I was told to start in safe mode and try to
uninstall all anti-virus programs and see that does the
trick. However, I was having a hard time finding the safe
mode key but it appears I need to hit F8 during boot-up.
Do you agree?
Thanks.
