We have a program that enhances printing, which is operational on
Windows 95-Xp, and functional without flaws for the years spanned by
these OS's. Then comes 4/14/04 update KB835732... and now the printing
starts spewing mini fonts and large fonts... No new software... no new
changes... only the update. Since the install date, over 140 of our
customers have called in about the software stopping operations.

We were perplexed... having the ability to pull spool files in house
from the customer's machine, we ran them and they ran perfectly (we
don't update until we have to). Then, we found out about KB835732...
suggested it to the customer... and boom they were back on line. Now,
of course we heard more from them! One customer in particular had 51
machines running an accounting program (PeachTree I believe) that had
damaged databases, all since the 14th. And, we have heard since then,
that the after removing the hotfix, turning off automatic updating,
and rebuilding their databases, no problem. Oops... they forgot one of
the automatic updates... the system went online for about 6 hours and
then wrecked its database again. The fix was removed properly this
time, and the results are stable now.

I have heard that the error is in the GDI32.dll update and that a
stack error has caused the problem. As you might expect, these kinds
of errors can occur randomly and dependent on which program uses which
tool in the GDI.

Thanks... no help needed... just thought I would add some light to the
mix.
