Nav 2004 runs in a 25-35 Megabyte memory footprint. As other's
have pointed out, it does create a drag on system performance. All
Anti-Virus real-time scanners will slow down the PC. One thing you
can do is disable the logging features. Open Nav, Click Reports
Activity Log, Right click on each sub-log - Clear and then Disable
each category (If you don't care to log or monitor activity).
The six to eight services that Symantec runs (Nav & Nis) do take
up a good bit of resources. There are a number of "Leaner" and
sometimes free anti-virus programs available. Symantec is still a
good choice for the average XP user, but NAV is getting to be a
"Problem" application.
