Definitely something wrong. With 2.4 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM, Office XP
w/Word 2002, fluctuates only 2%-6% CPU usage. Try deleting the file
Normal.dot, which might be corrupt, and then rebooting. Word will recreate
the Normal.dot file the next time you open the program. If a corrupt
Normal.dot file isn't the problem, maybe your Word macro security wasn't set
high enough (Tools menu/Macro/Security) and a doc with a spiteful macro
messed with Word? Have you tried uninstalling Office/Word and then
reinstalling it? Or, if you're using a Norton Antivirus product, disable
the Office Plug-in, which seems to cause problems on some systems, the
Norton Antivirus auto-protect will suffice. You don't need the Office
Plug-in.
