"open with" menu not working

Greetings

My right click "open with" menu no longer displays with various options.I'm
not sure if it occured after installing a multimedia vdeo player or the most
recent bout of windows updates.At any rate a whole new folder
"17bac6b85a4......" now shows up on a non system partition (separate
physical drive to C) and contains windows like files such as "sp1" and
"_sfx_0028._p".

Can anyone help with how to fix?
