Just a guess, but yes, with hyperthreading enabled the chip might run a few
degrees hotter but what is the problem with that? If the system is designed
properly and has adequate airflow and a decent CPU cooler there is no
downside. Enable HT and watch the temperature and if it stays sane then you
don't have a problem. If it starts to overheat then complain to Dell about
their cheesy design and mindless cost cutting at the expense of performance
and reliability. I certainly wouldn't choose to handicap one of my systems
by disabling any performance feature.
