You want to know what's annoying Cirredwin? You constant lack of help and perpetual criticism. It would be nicer if you simpy shut up. As for the Caps lock so flippin what? I can read it just fine and if you are so easily offended then simply do us all a favour and stop reading and replying. As for the Scan Disk. While it is true that Scan Disk as such does not exist in XP it has been replaced by the Check Disk utility which does the same thing and as a beginner you don't need to know or learn parameters to use it. go>start\my computer\and right click on your main drive (usually C:) and then click properties and then click the tools tab and at the top you will see "Error-checking" . Click the "check now" button and then put a check mark in the two boxes on the following page that comes up and then click "start" . You will recieve a warning window that the" disk-checking cannot be performed at this time-----------" It will ask you if you want the disk checked at next reboot. Click yes, and then reboot. The sy
stem will now do a full scan and recover any lost fragments and fix any errors as well. You should also get the HDD Utility tester from your disk manufacturer. Here is a link to the list. http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=2382705
This will give you a link to your Hard Drive Manufacturers disk checking utility that will help in trouble shooting and fixing hard disk problems. Please take note Cirredwin that this is how a reply should be. HELPFUL. {:~)
