runtime error

im running xp on an hp with athlon processor.
when on internet (cable modem) and picking at certain
links and pics i'll get a runtime error where it will
want me to send an error report which i do. after i do,
it shuts explorer down and i have to open it back up.
this happens VERY frequently. does anyone know what this
is, and how to fix it?
