1) There is no "DOS mode" in XP.
2) You have obviously booted from a 98 boot disk. The reason you can't
see your C drive is that it's NTFS formatted and DOS doesn't recognise - nor
supports - NTFS.
Your D partition is obviously formatted FAT32.
3) You are making life incredibly difficult. You need to change the BIOS
to boot from the CD. If you don't know how to do that, then I suggest you
RTFM.
