System Restore is not a backup, it is used to set restore points when
installing software or updates in case the install fails or the results are
unsatisfactory. SR is FIFO and is limited by the amount of space allocated
to SR.
I find imaging software [Ghost, Drive Image, etc.] is the best way to go for
reliable backups.
