Hi Barry,

You might want to unplug your connections to your ADSL
router and to your network card and re-attach them.

If you still experience problems, you can get rid of the
balloon popups by going to the Control Panel. Then click
on Network Connections. Right click on your Local Area
Network icon and select Properties.

Near the bottom of the Properties box you will find
the "Show icon in notification area when connected"
Untick the box and then click OK
