Using MSCONFIG is one way to check for MS/non-MS services but it's possible
for a rogue file to masquerade as an MS service. Suggestions:

--Open Administrative Tools> Services. Find the service there. Right click>
Properties. Check the command line for the service. Then check the files in
the command line to try and determine the source.

--Using an antivirus program that has current virus definitions, perform a
full system scan.

PS: A Google search using that service's name as the search term brings up
no hits -- except for your post from this newsgroup.
