Yup just had this problem on a client on a tft. Basicly the same thing,
except the monitor stayed on much longer, but would go into "standby" mode
for no reason. What I figured it to be was an incompatability between the
motherboard Via chipset and certain(older) ati video cards and their
drivers. For some reason the via chipset can't handle the ati drivers so it
disables things in them which can cause problems. Thge agp speed gets cut in
half sometimes as well. Do you have an ati video card? Do you have a via
chipset on the motherboard? If so, it could be this. The only way I could
fix it was update the bios and update to a newer ati card. Worked fine after
that.
