You were on the right track, but you need to do more. In addition to
scanning with Ad-aware, also get Spybot S&D from www.security.kolla.de.
Since both programs are free, it is good to run them both since they
complement each other. It is important to update these programs before
running them, and is most useful to run them in Safe Mode because most
spyware won't be running there. You might also want to try HijackThis
and CWShredder. You can get those programs and learn more about them
from www.spywareinfo.com. Check out the forums there for even more
help. And of course, you should be running a current (post-2002 version
using updated definitions) antivirus.
