Hi, I have have recently purchased and installed
Mircosoft Windows XP Professional, replacing Windows 98.
With Windows 98, I was running Symantec Norton Internet
Security 2004, without a problem with installation or
operation.
When I installed Windows XP, I was told by the computer
to uninstall then re-install Symantec Internet Security
2004, due to the
new operating setup.
When I try to run the automated setup (symsetup.exe) the
computer starts to do so, then stops, saying "This msi
must be launched through setup". There seems to be about
a dozen different msi applications on the Symantec CD,
such as firewall, adblock.
I have tryed using "command prompt" (nside window, via
applications) with such commands as "msiexec /i
d:\symsetup.exe", "msiexec /i d:\setup\setup.msi",
msiexec /i d:\setup\firewall", as suggested by help, and
i have tried many more, and the earlier problems re-occur.
I have try restarting the computer, and hit "delete" to
go to setup, but I cannot find anything helpful.
I restarted in the computer in safe mode and at "command
prompt" but I couldn't install anything as i was in safe
mode.
Do I need to exit Windows, to a command prompt? If so,
how?
Any help would be great.
Ben
