"Your security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a
result the page may not display correctly." I am receiving this problem on
two completely different PC's. On one of them I have completely reinstalled
the operating system and started clean. The other is a new system. Both
systems are running WindowsXP SP2 before I reinstalled on the old system I
was running SP1 and I got the same error.
As near as I can tell the problem seemed to show up after installing
Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition and configuring Media Player for the
first time but I am not sure. I also have MS Office 2003 on both systems and
installed several updates and MS add-ons to both systems and the old
install.
Both systems are also on LANs that I administer. Both LANs are just using
the most common default settings.
I get this message all the time. Even when I first boot up. It is usually
the first thing I see on logging in. And the Active desktop restore button
doesn't work. I get a script error. Fortunately I can get around this by
bring up the display properties and clicking OK. I also get the message when
any web page cannot be accessed for any reason. I have tried changing the
security settings in Internet Explorer, changing all zones to the lowest
possible level manually setting them to all to prompt or display as logic
would dictate but it doesn't change this problem at all. I have also checked
for some security policy but there are none defined.
I am the only one who uses these computers and I have not made any
related/advanced/unusual customizations that would cause this. I cannot
think of any other software that I have installed that would be likely to
cause this. I cannot find any information in the KB that is any help, but I
have not yet tried downloading and reinstalling IE.
Thanks for any help you have to offer.
