If it's your primary system, it would not be wise to install SP2 until it's
at the Update site, and out of Beta. If you have a decent third party
firewall, and a decent antivirus program with the latest definitions, and
don't open/run email attachments unless you know exactly what they are, then
your "misgivings in security" should be irrelevant.
