I just purchased a 120GB DiamondMax Plus Maxtor HDD. It's set to slave and
connected to the middle jumper on the same IDE cable as my master HDD. I
Auto Detected the new HDD in the BIOS, which recognized it properly. When I
restarted my machine and looked in My Computer, the HDD was NOT listed.
When I run the Add New Hardware wizard it's already recognized and says it's
working properly. Unfortunately, I can't find anywhere to access the drive,
but it's supposedly ready to use. That's my main problem, and ultimately
what I'm trying to answer...but it's only the first half of my concern.
At one time I installed and used TweakXP. One of the options I selected
using the app was to hide drive letters not in use. I'm pretty sure I
selected several to hide. Unfortunately, soon thereafter I was forced to
use System Restore and brought my system back to a date just before the
tweak program was installed...figuring it to be the source of the OS
problems I was suddenly experiencing. My comp has been running very
smoothly in the months since...
My concern is, after restoring to a point prior to the tweak program's
install, did the registry setting that I manipulated to hide my unused
drives linger and is now preventing me from seeing my newly installed HDD?
Any help would be HUGE.
Thanks,
TouchNova
