Erase data on CD-RW

I cant seem to erase the data on my CD-RW. I go into my
computer, select the CD ROM drive and usually on the left
of the screen is "erase data on CD-RW" under system
tasks. I dont seem to have this option at the moment.
Ive looked in the help menu but cant find anything. Ive
done it before but dont understand why i cant see the
option to erase everything on the CDRW. Can you please
point me in the correct direction. The options i have
are Eject disk, change settings, add/remove programs,
system info
