My company is a Microsoft OEM and since the introduction of Windows XP
we have been converting our networks over from Win95/98/NT to Windows
XP.
Within the last few months we have been going crazy because our
network shares are failing between the Windows 2000 Domain Controllers
server and Windows XP workstation.
When we researched the problem we found that Microsoft is aware of the
problem but they say we should live with until SP2 is released.
We have been forced to bring documentation to our network customers
outlining the Microsoft awareness and their inept attitude to resolve
these problems in a timely manner.
In the future, we are going to convert our networks to some
distribution of Linux in order to serve our customers a better
quality of service. It is difficult for me to believe that Microsoft
would develop an operating system that is not compatible with their
own servers.
