Windowx Explorer differences from Win2K

I recently moved to XP and have noticed some differences in the way the
Windows Explorer works in XP vs. how it worked in 2000. The file sorting
issue (345.txt now sorts before 1234.txt) was a bother, but I fixed that
with a registry change. But another issue that is bothering me is how files
resort as soon as a change is made to the file name. So if I decide that I
want to change the name on a file before opening it the process is like
this: I rename it, then it resorts to the bottom of the file list, then I
have to scroll to the bottom of the file list and then I double-click it to
open it. This is a pain. Is there any way to prevent this? Similarly, if
I right-click and choose New then Text Document, it used to create the text
document at the end of the list and auto-scroll the window to the bottom (so
that you could immediately rename it and double-click to open it). Now it
creates it at the bottom of the list, as it did before, but does not
auto-scroll, which forces you to do the scrolling to find the new file.
These are dumb changes, IMHO, and I'm looking to find out how to get it back
to working as it did before. Can anyone help out with this?

Thanks,

Russell Campbell
