Yes i would reformat, simply because it easier than running virus check
(which could the reason for your crashes) and ad-aware to get rid of some of
the junk.
But then you would generally have to spend hours *maybe* sorting through
what you need and what you don't need.
Simply way is just reformat which would basically get rid of everything.
and start from scratch, and then get anti virus software and spybot search &
destory & then ad-aware and run weekly check to keep your junk down to a
minunmin
also programes like norton system works and zone alarm pro have built in
"junk cleaners" which are very useful too :)
