replies to messages not saving

For the last week or so, my replies to messages vanish (as
far as my computer is concerned) as soon as a send them.
But, the people to whom they are sent do appear to receive
the replies. I'm just stuck with no record of it. Does
anyone know why this is happening, or how I can fix it so
my replies show up in the "sent messages" folder again?
