If you have an older system running ME fine, then paying out the
$90-$99 for an upgrade is a waste. But if you have anything new
within the last couple of years (over 1.1 GHz) it can take advantage
of things. Especially anything really new, it is needed to access
features which make the computer run fast). People with old P3s
running at even 600 MHz say it runs fine and they are happy with it.
If you buy any complete system now it will come with XP (good for that
system only). If you build one yourself it is gonna cost you $199 to
buy a stand alone version, or $99 for an upgrade from an older version
(you bought as stand alone). (Maybe you can get XP for cheaper, but
those prices are normal for most sellers, give or take $20). All that
$$ you save building a system yourself is shot after you buy the XP
stand alone version.
